Grammie has finally returned. As some of you already know she went to Louisiana to visit Peanut. Peanut's girl was required by order of the King to be back in that state by August 8th so she could return to school. Grammie came home on a Monday morning from work with Julia. We of course were very glad to see Julia as she has stayed with us in the past and it is always a GRAND time.
We noticed that Peanut's girl was headed for the motorized Pappy mobile. We were able to watch her from the front door. Grammie and Pappy got inside also and they motored away down the street. That was the last we saw of any of them for about 1.5 weeks. We did hear Grammie's voice coming out of the wall once. We think it was from the wall, but it could have been from that gadget that they put to their ears at times.
The rest of the story is to be believed or not as Grammie is telling it to me. She states that they went many miles across Oregon, Washington, Idaho and into Montana the first night. I don't know where any of those places are, but am planning on printing out a map so that I can see where they went. According to the story they were going to a place called Mt. Rushmore. She says that they didn't get there until the second day. This is a place where someone has carved 4 very huge hooman heads into rock. It would probably have looked better had it been 4 pups, but it is what it is. She says it is like the Grand Canyon, you don't know how special it is until you actually see it.
Grammie says, that they hit the Black Hills of South Dakota on the first day of Sturgis Bike Week. There were motorcycles of all kinds everywhere. This was a treat for Grammie and Pappy who like to ride. She says that the baby boomers were everywhere and the noise was almost as loud as Dawson and I barking.
The whole trip was 5400 miles and Pappy is sleeping right now from all that driving. More to come on a later post. She even has pictures of Peanut and Flash enjoying their treats. She did not forget us as she came home today with Wally-Melon. What more could we ask?

Usually my Dad goes to Sturgis for Bike Week but he didn't this year. It would have been so weird if they had been there at the same time.

What a fantastic trip....I think dog heads carved in that mountain would have been alot better too. Your grammie was in Kansas? How cool. If you ask her, I am sure she will tell you it was a boring drive through KS......lol
and the driver's are horrible and rude here.

MOCO! Those men on Mount Rushmore sure look old... anyway, I'm glad Grammie's back and that she and Pappy had a nice trip. Too bad they didn't bring Peanut and Flash back in their suitcases.

P.S. If Grammie finds out why Bloglines isn't picking up my posts, she should tell my Mama because there are other friends who aren't either and we want to help them fix it.
Woooo! Grammie's back! The time I was in SD it was during Sturgis. I was afraid of the noisy cycles. I didn't even get Wallymelon out of the deal.

Welcome back!!!!
5400 miles? OMDog that's so many numbers! I'm glad that Grammie had a safe trip ~~ and what beautiful country she saw!
I like the faces on the mountain, but it would have been better if they were dog faces.
Wow, that's a lot of driving! That's cool that they got to see so much cool stuff. Sturgis would have been great people (and bike) watching. I bet you are glad they are home.
Hugs, Kodak

The Lake is called Lewisville Lake. It is about 40 miles from Dallas and about 6 miles from Denton (University of North Texas) Mean Joe Green played there. Mom is dating herself on this one..

Mt Rushmore looks so majestic and my mom would love to see it with her own eyes ever since we saw it in the movie (I think it's National Treasure.. the one with Nicholas Cage..).
